Teknotherm selected as HVAC supplier for Oslo’s new island ferries

Island-hopping and ferry services between the islands in the inner Oslofjord have been a tradition for more than a century, in fact since the Norwegian capital was named Kristiania.

Ruter, the public transportation company in Oslo aiming for zero-emission by 2028, will have 5 new electric ferries in service between Aker Brygge and the islands from summer season in 2022.

Designed by Multi Maritime, under construction at Sefine Shipyard in Turkey and to be operated by Boreal Sjø, each of the 35 m island ferries will have a passenger capacity of 350. With wheelchair accessibility, large glass surfaces and two large sun decks, passengers will enjoy amazing view while sailing quietly without emissions to air or to sea.

Teknotherm Marine will provide an energy efficient Air-Conditioning system, to ensure comfort for passengers and crew, as well as temperature control for battery room and other technical spaces.
